Idlewild is an independent designer boutique located in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, offering a considered selection of women’s and men’s clothing, shoes, accessories, and objects from independent and international designers.

Participants will be introduced to the traditional craft of broom making while creating their own functional hand broom from natural broomcorn. Beginning with an introduction to broomcorn as both an agricultural material and historic tool-making fiber, participants will learn how broomcorn is selected, prepared, bundled, and shaped. Through demonstration and guided instruction, students will learn foundational broom-making techniques including sorting and preparing broomcorn, working with tension, binding, shaping, and stitching.
