Returning to the essence of “a piece of cloth,” the All Square Pants from Issey Miyake have maximize the inherent beauty of their material. They are made from a fabric woven with ultra-fine polyester warp threads and Japanese Washi paper weft threads, creating a subtle transparent look and a delicate, mottled appearance. The unique smooth texture and firmness of Japanese Washi paper impart a lightness to the material. They form a perfect square when laid flat, a key design feature that reflects the distinctive ISSEY MIYAKE character.

Legendary Japanese designer Issey Miyake debuted his eponymous womenswear label in 1971, charting a half century of work in fashion design. An industry pioneer, Miyake’s clothing blends traditional Japanese techniques with forward-thinking technology. The brand is famous for their pleating technique which led to the debut of Pleats Please in 1993. Much of Miyake’s work is informed by an architectural approach to design, seen in sculptural silhouettes and clothing with purpose. Vibrant colors, advanced pattern making, and a devotion to curiosity are hallmarks of this fashion house now led by Satoshi Kondo.
